• 2 T melted butter
• 2 c  toasted bread crumbs
• 4 apples, sliced or chopped with the Cook's Knife
• Grated rind from 1 lemon or orange
• Juice of 1 orange. Add enough water to make ? c liquid.
• 1/3 c sugar

Put buttered crumbs into baking dish in alternate layers with apples making last layer crumbs. Sprinkle each layer of apples with the fruit rind liquid and sugar.

Bake 1 hour in mod. oven. Cover dish for the first 30 minutes.

Pineapple may be used the same way, using pineapple juice for liquid.
